Most women start with an evening, come back for a session, and end up on a porch somewhere with five others. You can start anywhere. There is no wrong door.

One evening. A room full of women, a themed set, ten minutes in front of the camera. Most come not knowing anyone and leave with someone's number.

Who holds the room.

Madeline Lenore has photographed women for thirteen years, in studios, outdoors, and far from home. She was raised by a mother who moved through the world with a quiet kind of presence, and she built the House in the quiet that came after losing her. Not to fix grief, but to make a place where the things her mother gave her could keep living.
